Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Greetings to you all in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ, and on behalf of The Bethesda Ministries. It is my opportunity to share a few words of God and about The Bethesda Ministries. Let us turn to The Scriptures, to The Gospel of St. John, Chapter 5, verses 1 - 9 (KJV)

1. After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2. Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches. 3. In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water. 4. For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had. 5. And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years. 6. When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole? 7. The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me. 8. Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk. 9. And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.

In this part we can see that Jesus went into Jerusalem. We find a pool called Bethesda in Hebrew, by the Sheep gate in Jerusalem. It has five porches (porticoes). On each porticoe, there are four kinds of people; invalid, blind, lame and paralyzed.

The

The Pool of Bethesda as it appears today

Bethesda is a symbol of grace. The five porticoes symbolise the five wounds of Christ. By His wounds we are healed. (Isaiah 53:5). The number five has great importance throughout The Scriptures. David chose five smooth stones with which to defeat Goliath. To build The Body of Christ there are five gifts; that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and some teachers. This is written in Ephesians, Chapter 4, Verse 10. There are The Five Books of Moses which are the first five Books of The Old Testament.

Bethesda consists of five porticoes. The Bethesda Ministries is also a five-fold ministry. There was only one pool in much the same way that there is but one Gospel. By spreading this Gospel, we labor to win souls through five types of programmes:

  • Evangelism
  • The 'planting' of new Churches
  • Building The Discipleship
  • Healing the poor and assisting the needy
  • Molding our youth to be The Children of God

There was a man who had been ill for 38 years. Many people were healed but there was no man that would help this poor man. If there were a man that would have helped this man he would not have been there for 38 years!

Today there are many souls that are seeking prayer support. They seek the support that can be helpful in their spiritual healing. If we, being God's Children, simply come forward many people will receive salvation earlier than if we do nothing. If we are not interested, God does not wait. He saves those who are truly seeking Him, but then our disinterest yields no blessings.

For The Bethesda Ministries we need all of the prayer support you will give, and the much needed monetary support that strengthens our missions. Please come forward, and help us to win more souls earlier.

May God Bless you exceedingly,

Pastor John Kancharla President

The Testimony of Pastor John Kancharla

When I was studying 4th Class, I lost my mother. I have two brothers and one sister. When my mother died my sister was 11 months old, so at that time we faced many difficulties. I used to go around and visit my neighbor's houses for milk to feed my sister.

At the age of 11 I joined a Christian Hostel and studied up to 7th Class. One night when I was sleeping I did see a mighty light, and God talked with me. I told one of my teachers about this experience, and he told me that in time I would become a Servant of God. I then forgot this incident over time.

When I was in High School and College, I was a nominal Christian. I faced many troubles financially and socially. I had no peace of mind either. I used to go cinemas to comfort myself. I did not find comfort no matter where I looked or what I tried. For nearly one month I had been thinking of how I would commit suicide. One day, I seriously decided to commit suicide after doing a few last things "in life". For one, I wanted to go to a movie with my best friend. When we were going to the movie, one of my friends who is a Pastor met us. The friend that was with me went into the church along with him, but I chose to sit outside. As my friends were talking about the Word of God I was inspired to join them, and I stepped into the Church. As my friend was talking about the Word of God a great fear entered my heart, a fear of God's Judgment.

At that moment I gave up my thoughts of suicide and avidly sought the Word of God. Shortly afterwards I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour. Then I was baptised and filled with my calling" from God, I started The Bethesda Ministries among the Hindu people of India. After one year I married Dayamani. She is very kind and extremely interested in the Word and Ministry of God. I praise our Lord for Dayamani because she has been faithfully serving right along with me. She is a blessing given unto me from The LORD God Almighty.

Amen

We will pray for you if you wish to confide in us with your problems, and we ask that you please pray for us also.

Our Church is alive. We seek always the presence of our Lord! Our Lord speaks with us and strengthens us. He gives us hope that this Church shall be supported by His inspiration to reach more people to bring them to Him. Of course, this church is in need and it needs a lot, but we believe that our Lord is faithful and thus it will be provided.
